How to deposit cash fee-free with the barcode system

You may have noticed that some stores may charge you a fee for depositing money to your card. There are multiple benefits that come with the PODERcard such as eliminating monthly fees*, and now we offer an in-app solution which allows you to deposit money to your account at no charge.

Our solution to these in-store deposit fees is the barcode system. Read on to learn how to deposit money into your PODERcard fee-free** at participating stores.

Step 1. Log in to your PODERcard app and go to the Funds tab. Select the Deposit Cash option from the menu.

Step 2. Next you will see a screen like this, where you should click on the button Select a Retailer to see the participating stores menu.

Step 3. Look through the participating stores and select the one which you'd like to use. 

Step 4. Next you'd need to enter the amount of money you want to load into your account. The minimum deposit per barcode is $100. 

Then click on the button Get Barcode.

Step 5. Your barcode will appear on the next screen. Click the Save For Later button at the end.

Step 6. When you are ready to make your deposit, you'll be able to access your barcode from the Deposit cash option in the main menu. Show it to a staff member at the retailer you selected and you'll be able to make a deposit free of charge (you don't need to show or use your card for this).

Note that barcodes expire one hour after created, so use it within that time frame.

Tip: We recommend taking a screenshot of your barcode when you generate it, in case you accidentally close the screen.

What are the participating locations?

You can deposit cash to your PODERcard at thousands of participating locations nationwide:

• 7-Eleven
• ACE Cash Express
• CVS/Pharmacy
• Dollar General
• Family Dollar
• Kmart
• Kroger
• Rite Aid
• Safeway
• Walgreens
• Walmart

Visit the PODERcard app to find a location near you, you’ll find a map when you click the Find ATM button at the top right. Be sure to check if the branch you visit offers this recharge option. Not all branches of participating locations have this function available. For example: One CVS Pharmacy location may accept the barcode, while another in a different neighborhood may not. Check carefully before visiting the location!

What other options are there for adding funds to my PODERcard account?

Aside from depositing cash, you’re also able to fund your account with transfers from other PODERcard cardholders, traditional bank transfers, or direct deposit.
